When you visit New York City for the first time, you'll better understand why Frank Sinatra belted out the song, New York, New York. New York City is a legendary place that has so much to offer to out-of-towners that you'll probably plan return trip as soon as you can.

Don't feel too overwhelmed by what this majestic city offers you. Will you be in New York City for only one day? It would take years for you to see all the sights, but you can also cover many of the highlights of the city by organizing your time carefully. From visiting Ellis Island early in the morning to having dinner and seeing a show in the evening, here are some ideas that might help you to make the best use of. your short stay in The Big Apple.

Day Time Activities -  Have you seen movies like The Immigrant, Golden Door, or Ellis Island that depict scenes from Ellis Island? Consider going to this historic landmark to see for yourself what it was like for immigrants to arrive in America. Another idea is to take a double decker tour bus that allows you to get off at any stops. For instance, stop at places like The Empire State Building, Wall Street, and Trump Towers. Your tour bus guide will point out things like the very place the Twin Towers were before 9/11 tragically changed the way of American life.

If you go to the Italian section of the city or to China Town, you'll feel like you're in a different country. Did you see the movie, Big, that showed Tom Hanks playing a huge toy floor piano with his feet? Ask your guide to point out the toy story where that scene was filmed.

Night Time Activities - For sure go to a famous restaurant to eat foods that are different from the ones you eat at home. For example, you've probably never had pizza that tastes quite as good as the pizza you'll eat at an Italian restaurant.

Another great thing for you to do in the evening is to go to a Broadway show. You'll probably be amazed that the stage isn't the only part of the theater that is decorated with the show's theme. For example, if you are lucky enough to catch the show Cats in New York City, you'll find cat decor from the moment you enter the theater.

You've probably heard about The Rockettes from the time you were a child, haven't you? Imagine seeing these amazing precision dancers in person at Radio City Music Hall. When you witness that beautiful show, you'll understand why The Rockettes have been performing in that famous hall since 1932.

End your day in New York City by visiting a restaurant that offers live music. Even though you've already eaten dinner, treat yourself to a decadent dessert while you listen to music from a small band or while you watch a comedian.
